We usually think of writing as a solitary activity. Name some authors that regularly work together on their literary endeavors; indeed, collaborative authors are rare. Yet, for Calvin and me, it works remarkably well. How do we do it? What’s our process?
Of course, our process begins as individuals. We sit down and write a rough draft, then the other reads and rewrites. Sounds simple, right? But this comes after hours of discussion, planning, and note-taking. (My favorite part). Once we’ve agreed on the basics for a chapter, one of us gets to work while the other edits and researches.
But how do we agree on who writes what? The science springs from Calvin’s fertile mind; Rita generally attends to real-life situations and character development. It works for us, as we rarely disagree.
Common goals, cooperation, and mutual respect are essential to our success. We hope you enjoy our endeavor. Calvin and I look forward to publishing the Resonance sequel, Resonance: Rising, coming soon. In the meantime, click here to order Resonance: Genesis.
